Plan B

What you do when you have a flat tire at lunchtime:  Thank the Lord you are right by Target, pull into the parking lot, call Daddy to come to the rescue, and take everyone inside for a meal. The kids loved it! Of course, I mean when else do you get pizza, popcorn, and a strawberry smoothie for lunch?

Sanctification

And in the midst of it, I love that the Cheerios box calls for joy :)

First Summer Day

Yesterday was a gorgeously hot summer day. We got our sprinkler out for the first time this year.

Mommy, it got me all wet!

But then deciding he loved it...

Sometimes...

...on the saddest days, the greatest joy is being with the dearest of friends.

There is nothing like someone who knows your soul just about as well as you do.

Goodbye, Pre-K!

Silas had his very last day of preschool this week. I didn't really expect to be emotional about it; Simeon and Lieren will go to that school next year so we will remain part of the community there. But as they sang their last song in the program, I did tear up. Silas started school there last year and has had a wonderful experience with pre-k there this year. I am so grateful it's been a good place for him and for us these years.

As we drove home I realized much of his education is on me now. I am excited and thankful and look forward to what next year holds. But it is a bit daunting nonetheless.

I made our first curriculum order on Tuesday night: kindergarten math. My plan is to start that this summer as a way to gauge how to plan for the schoolyear (direct instruction time, scheduling, how the other kids can be engaged too, etc.). From looking at the material we should fly through it and both feel successful with our start to homeschooling; at least that's my hope!

Here is Silas and his class in their little program...

The fam cheering him on...

Some silly song while a few kids and parents worked on a demonstration in the background...

All four of our kids feel at home in his classroom...

Saying goodbye to the best preschool teacher I know...

And the reason I think homeschool will be great for our Silas...he has spent at least an hour today reading a children's dictionary!

He read about the heart in the dictionary then we used the My Incredible Body app to learn more - so cool!

Twins

On Monday, Shane and I and the 3 little kids were heading out for an appointment when I realized Lieren had dressed her doll exactly like she was dressed, all the way down to the pink bow on their hair. What a girly!
