Pulled Teeth and a Spacer

I had two very brave boys today at the dentist. Simeon had two teeth pulled that were needing to come out! Silas had a spacer placed where his molar was pulled a few weeks ago. They were excellent patients and made the morning a breeze!

Some mornings I just wake up feeing grateful for a new day. We had a really hard school day earlier this week with tears all around. It reminded me how much we all need mercy. 

So today I am choosing to be grateful for all the "pools in the desert" of this week. (Psal 107:35)

The Best Birthday Ever

We celebrated Shane's birthday this week at the beach. We took dinner and stayed through sunset. The candles wouldn't stay lit so we sang to candles flickering on a phone screen. We ate cake at dusk. We walked back to the van in the dark. And the children dubbed it the best birthday ever. 

I love that the simplest can be the best. 

Tuesdays

Tuesday afternoons have become a gift to me. A gift to my thoughts. A gift to my soul. 

We spend a joyful and hectic and busy Tuesday morning getting out the door and to our CC community. I tutor Simeon and Lieren's class, we lunch with friends, we pack it all up and then my parents take the kids. 

For the whole afternoon I am gifted quiet alone time which speaks to the introvert in me like no other. 

I will be teaching our ladies' Bible study next week at church so my afternoons have mainly been filled with books and reading and prayer and study and quiet thought. 

Today I also got my hair cut. So there's that. 

But never could I be more thankful for these hours. Thank you, Mom and Dad, for giving me time to sit in Grandpa's chair and do what he spent his life doing: studying to know God and preparing to teach about it.
