While We Wait...

"About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them." Acts 16:25

It is hard to believe that any day now we could meet our own little Silas Cole. Have I written his name yet? I know many of you know his name already, but I don't think that I have put it down in writing. I am so looking forward to finally setting my eyes on this child who has brought such joy in the midst of a year where we have walked down many paths we have never walked before. Like Paul and Silas, I have learned to praise in the midnights.

While I wait, I love to sit in his room, pray for him and our delivery, and wonder what his little addition will be like for our family. Luther and Augustine already love to snuggle on his rug.

8th Anniversary

On Saturday Shane and I celebrated our eighth anniversary. What an amazing journey these years have been. We certainly never imagined we would be spending an anniversary on the Ohio River, overlooking downtown Louisville. Our anniversary is really not until Tuesday, the 24th. But with our baby's due date just 6 days away, we decided we should go ahead and take advantage of the beautiful Kentucky summer evening.


This may be about as big as I'm going to get. But if the Lord decides to keep our little guy in a bit longer, you never know...

We ate at a fun Italian place called Rocky's that's right on the water. If you come to visit us now, we're starting to find a few good, somewhat cultural places to take people.
Shane installed our carseat today. So not only was it an eventful evening because of our anniversary, it was also our first trip out with a carseat in the car.

38 Weeks and Counting...

We are anxiously wondering when our little guy is going to arrive. Just knowing that it will be in the next few weeks is amazing to me. Shane and I keep looking at each other and saying, "It might be today...then two days from now we'd be home with a little baby boy." I can't imagine what the house will feel like with a little one! It already feels different around here with a stroller sitting in the living room and a highchair in the dining room, blue paint on his walls, and a crib all made up for his first night home.

As I wait for him to come, I keep thinking back to Acts 17 where Paul says, "He determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek Him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though He is not far from each one of us." I am grateful that God knew this would be the exact place where our son would be born. And He knows the time set for his arrival. My prayer is that even in these details, God would be working so that our little boy will one day reach out and find Him.

Sister and Soon-to-be-Aunt

My sister, Tara, came to visit this past weekend. How fun to finally have someone from my family here! She came bearing gifts for her nephew and joined us as we ran lots of last-minute baby shopping errands. Her visit was much too short but we know she'll be coming back soon!

I love you so much, sis! And I know our little guy will love you, too, just like the bib says!!

Our Church Family

We have now been part of our new church family for over 5 months. We have been thankful over and over that Shane was asked to come be part of Highview's ministry team. We have loved getting to know the other staff and the families that are part of this church.

On Sunday, the middle school youth leaders gave us a baby shower. It was so sweet to see middle schoolers (especially middle school boys!) at a shower. Several of them picked out toys themselves to give to the baby. I loved having Shane there to join in with all the shower hoopla - he hasn't really gotten to be part of that at any of the other showers. Once again, we were overwhelmed by generosity and love.

We didn't take any pictures at the shower, but I've had some of our new church that I've never posted. This is the church campus that we attend, Highview's East Campus. There are 5 other locations in the Louisville area.

The building below is East Campus' youth facility, lovingly and quite accurately called The Greenhouse as it was previously a greenhouse, left behind when Highview purchased the land. It has been completely remodeled inside and has space for both high school and middle school.
