Earlier this summer, Silas and I took a very special quick trip to Columbus for a very special reason.
My father was selected as one of two Distinguished Alumni of Golden Gate Seminary who were recognized this year at the Southern Baptist Convention. I was so thankful it worked out for Si and I to be there for the lunch and awards.
We drove to Columbus with my parents and stayed in a motel for the night. Silas had some fun when we got there...
That evening he and I went for a swim in the pool...
We then snuggled into our beds and Silas was fast asleep when my sister arrived to join us around midnight.
The next morning my parents went on to the convention while Silas, Tara and I visited a children's museum. It was all kinds of interesting...
We met my parents at the convention for lunch along with some others who have been friends of my parents' for years. Silas was not impressed by the fancy food; at the end of it all, his meal had consisted of some whipped cream, a couple blueberries off the dessert, and the goldfish that I had brought as an extra snack.
But we completely enjoyed and celebrated my dad's recognition and the words he shared about how God used Golden Gate Seminary all those years ago to grow and change him. It was so good.
Then later that afternoon my family took Silas and I to the airport to fly home. Silas hasn't been on a plane since he and I went to Singapore when he was 9 months old. So it was exciting!
Shane and the little kids met us at the airport when we got home. It was the sweetest thing to see the kids greet each other. So thankful for our quick trip away and all the fun memories.
